Desktop virtualisation enables companies to boost their ability to adapt to a constantly changing business landscape, it has been claimed.

Writing for Virtualization Review, Calvin Hsu noted that while some companies may be unsure as to whether it is time to introduce a new system, many firms could reap the benefits.

He stated: "Desktop virtualisation is a powerful technology that, with the right solution, has the potential to deliver a virtual desktop to any user, on any device."

Mr Hsu went on to say that adopting virtualisation software of this kind can enable organisations to support new employees efficiently and cost-effectively.

Firms can instantly maintain "an ever-changing" staff population and provide them with cheaper equipment than full-featured PCs, he added.

Virtualisation was recently praised by technology journalist Steve Gold, who - writing for the IT Pro Portal website - explained that it allows businesses to prosper by doing more with less.
