Small and medium-sized enterprises may want to consider the implementation of an enterprise resource planning (ERP) system as the software can enable businesses to expand, it has been suggested.
Writing for CIO, Georgina Swan identified the mobility provided by ERP systems can allow such growth.
The specialist used the case of building services firm Hirotech, which was able to utilise mobile ERP applications to enhance business intelligence.
Ms Swan noted the technology eliminated the amount of information technicians had to complete in the field, decreased human error and streamlined business processes.
Paul Sicari, director of the organisation, commented: "The reality is we wouldn’t have been able to grow the business without that ERP."
He added the switch has enabled Hirotech to move to multiple service offerings and more than double the number of its employees.
Ted Simpson, writing for Talent Management, recently observed ERP systems can be implemented by companies to help them make their human resources departments better organised and therefore more efficient.
