The development of SAP's enterprise resource planning (ERP) software has been summed up by one of the company's executives, who said it is now capable of managing "gargantuan amounts of data".

Mark Aboud, the president and managing director of SAP Canada, told ITWorld Canada that the brand is expanding its portfolio at a rapid rate.

He noted that while ERP remains the key to its operations, huge progress is being made in other areas such as analytics and mobile. Rob Enslin, corporate officer and president of global field operations at the company, also told Destination CRM this week that mobile is an area of priority for SAP.

"We now have highly affordable technology to manage gargantuan amounts of data. That's a big change, that's a huge change. And a lot of companies spend a lot of money managing a lot of data," Mr Aboud stated.

The president went on to claim that SAP's solutions are now at a stage where they are not only rolled out extremely quickly, they can also start to make a business money faster than ever.
