Banking may be just one feature of enterprise resource planning (ERP) software, but it is one in which SAP's solutions tend to excel.
The technology manufacturer has confirmed it has been named in the leaders' quadrant in the 2011 Magic Quadrant for International Retail Core Banking report by Gartner.
Although the research body is unable to commend any one particular brand, it noted of SAP that the firm boasts a strong "ability to execute" effective operations and enjoys "completeness of vision".
Commenting on the recognition, SAP's senior vice-president and global head of financial services Don Trotta said: "We believe it again demonstrates SAP's strong position in the bank technology ecosystem and how SAP's integrated approach to standardised core banking systems continues to resonate."
Any solutions provider recognised by Gartner is said to have shown strong development and have a clear strategy.
ZDNet writer Paul Greenberg recently described SAP as a company with plenty going for it in the customer relationship management sector, suggesting it is the most innovative organisation in this area.
