SAP, famous for providing market leading enterprise resource planning (ERP) software, is to become the dominant player in the cloud computing market over the years to come.
That is the view of Jim Hagemann Snabe, one of the company's two co-executives, who told Focus that the firm will be profitable in this area from 2013, AFP reported.
He was speaking after SAP announced a merger with Success Factors, which is designed to drive its cloud growth.
"By integrating SAP solutions with those of Success Factors, we can realise economies of scale and make money more quickly," Mr Snabe said.
He added that the new levels of productivity and efficiency that are possible as a result of the tie-in with the cloud firm will help SAP "become number one in the near future".
Upon signing up for the merger, SAP revealed it will gain access to $3.4 billion (£2.18 billion) worth of common stock held by Success Factors.
