Enterprise resource planning (ERP) software manufacturer and provider SAP has added another title to its illustrious record after it was named the top supply chain management firm.

The company has confirmed it picked up the honour from Gartner in its recent Market Snapshot: Supply Chain Management Software, Worldwide, 2011 report.

Hans Thalbauer, senior vice-president of line of business solutions for supply chain and research and development at SAP, said: "We have invested in all areas of our supply chain suite and embraced analytics, the cloud, in-memory technology and mobile technologies into the core applications. We believe our market leadership ... affirms this momentum."

SAP recorded a market share of 19.9 per cent in the research and growth of 17.8 per cent, putting it ahead of the majority of the leading organisations.

It recently spelled out its determination to succeed in markets such as the cloud, having released four new products for this area.
