SAP, the global leader in the enterprise resource planning (ERP) software market, has outlined plans to move into China.
The company is to spend $2 billion (£1.25 billion) by 2015 in order to establish its brand and products in the Asian country.
It wants to make a long-term commitment to the world's second-largest economy and believes such a vast sum is required in order to ensure its investment is deep enough.
Bill McDermott, co-chief executive officer at SAP, explained the firm has been growing in China over the last 20 years, but it is now time to scale operations to meet the needs of customers.
"We will create more research and development facilities, hire thousands of people, train more experts and consultants and bring our world-class benchmarking methodology to China," he stated.
Last month, SAP revealed the third quarter of 2011 was its seventh consecutive three-month period of double-digit growth.
