The future of SAP, a world leader in enterprise resource planning (ERP) software, appears to be extremely bright, ambitious and prosperous.
That is according to global solutions president Sanjay Poonen, who said in a recent video interview with InformationWeek that big things are expected of the company in the years to come.
SAP has already outlined its aim to hold down the number two position in the global database market by 2015.
Mr Poonen noted that many of the firm's largest customers – such as Red Bull – are already moving to modern SAP databases from older, traditional set-ups.
The executive recently spoke to the Washington Post on the back of the company's record-breaking financial results for the final quarter of 2011.
He said the figures are evidence that SAP's decision to base its operations around three areas – mobility, big data and the cloud – and make its products relevant to consumers is now paying off.
