Barclays has been named by enterprise resource planning (ERP) software provider SAP as one of the top users of its solutions.

The banking group has won the Best Practices in Application Lifecycle Management and Run SAP Like a Factory title at the latest SAP Customer Centre of Excellence Awards.

It noted that Barclays has recently become the first user of SAP products in the UK and Ireland to be Advanced Customer Centre of Excellence certified.

The firm is said to have been accredited in just six months – far below the average time – and perhaps an indicator of its success when it comes to utilising SAP equipment.

Barclays has taken advantage of SAP's hi-tech solutions to improve its internal collaboration and make the most of its business value reporting within IT.

Earlier this month, IT company Atos revealed it had deployed a SAP application in a bid to drive an improvement in its sustainability.
