ERP software provider SAP targets improved functionality

18th January

Category: ERP Software

SAP – a leading provider of enterprise resource planning (ERP) software – is aiming to offer its customers improved functionality on the back of a recent takeover.

The firm has announced it has acquired SAF Simulation, Analysis and Forecasting, which specialises in automated ordering and forecasting software.

By taking advantage of its newly-attained technology and expertise, SAP intends to improve its own solutions, with numerous benefits heading the way of its users, particularly those in retail.

For instance, it believes costs will be lowered, products will show a better match with consumer demand and risks will be reduced by upgrading its designs.

"Grocery and other fast-moving consumer goods retailers have to step up their game to deliver what today's smarter consumer expects and take cost out of their supply chain at the same time," said Greg Girard, program director for merchandise strategies at the International Data Corporation Retail Insights group.

SAP has already outlined its intentions this week to complete another takeover, this time of workforce performance specialist datango.
