SAP – one of the world's leading providers of enterprise resource planning (ERP) software – has outlined plans to extend its range of services and expertise even further.
The company is set to acquire Crossgate, a business-to-business (B2B) integration specialist.
It noted that the purchase of the firm will allow it to add new strings to its bow in terms of what it can offer clients.
For example, SAP suggested the deal will result in it taking control of software and systems that host electronic data exchanges between companies, while its users will be able to collaborate and share data.
"Companies live in an evolving global network of customers and partners and technology from Crossgate allows them to interact in new ways at the enterprise level," said Peter Maier, general manager and head of Line of Business Solutions at SAP.
SAP was recently recognised in the 2011 Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes as the industry's greenest company.
