SAP has become known as a company that specialises in several areas of computing and it seems it is ready to take the data discovery market by storm.

The enterprise resource planning (ERP) software manufacturer has confirmed it has released a new solution, SAP Visual Intelligence, which allows workers and businesses to visualise and analyse the data at their disposal.

Perhaps most useful of all is the potential to use the information to affect decision-making processes.

Cindi Howson, founder of BI Scorecard, said: "Ease of use, time to insight and business agility are key reasons for the rapid growth of visual data discovery that provides users with greater self service with minimal IT support."

SAP is a notoriously innovative company that is always looking for new areas in which to specialise. It recently outlined its strategy, which now focuses much of its attention on the cloud following the acquisition of SuccessFactors.
