SAP is renowned as one of the world's leading providers of high-quality enterprise resource planning (ERP) software.

It relies on a number of factors to maintain its prestigious position in the industry, including takeovers of other technology firms.

The latest to fall into this category appears to be datango, a company that specialises in the production of software that aids workforce performance.

SAP is hopeful of completing a deal to acquire the firm in the first quarter of this year and believes it will put it in an even stronger position to offer customers easy-to-use and powerful solutions that tackle a variety of staff issues.

"By having its own product in this market, SAP can now deliver and accelerate innovations and produce robust content for our customers in the future," explained Markus Schwarz, senior vice-president and global head of SAP Education.

Last month, the organisation confirmed its intention to proceed with a takeover of technology brand SuccessFactors.
