The implementation of a new enterprise resource planning (ERP) system may have contributed to the recent growth in sales witnessed by an online clothing retailer.
Mulberry installed the software in October 2009 and has seen internet purchases swell by 99 per cent in the first ten weeks of this financial year, Computer Weekly reports.
The company’s overall sales escalated by 23 per cent to £72.1 million in the year ending March 2010 - higher than the £58.6 million it generated a year earlier.
Mulberry invested £300,000 in the ERP system in an attempt to support and sustain such expansion.
The source noted the business is doing particularly well in Asia, where wholesale revenues are expected to rise by more than 100 per cent during 2010.
James Robbins, writing for Automation World, recently observed ERP systems have provided firms with the stable building blocks required to allow them to survive and even thrive during the recession.
