A company that applies an enterprise resource planning (ERP) system, such as SAP Business One, can expect to witness a number of advantages, it has been claimed.

Writing for Automation World, James Robbins noted some firms in the automotive sector have thrived during the recession and the industry figure said this success was leveraged on the "building blocks" of ERP systems.

Mr Robbins observed ERP applications can "greatly aid companies in their pursuit of operational excellence".

The benefits of the software are numerous, he remarked, as it can streamline initiatives and costs and promote a greater level of customer satisfaction.

Delivery timeframes can be quickened by up to 25 per cent, while greater predictability and lower implementation risks can be attained as well, he added.

According to Manufacturingtalk.com, Lymington Precision Engineers recently opted for an ERP system to ensure it could respond more speedily to its customers’ needs and manage its business information more effectively.
