Companies wishing to gain greater control of their operations may want to consider implementing an enterprise resource planning (ERP) system.
In an interview with CIO, Simarjit Chhabra - chief information officer at Xtralis - revealed his firm is looking at upgrading its ERP system to improve service for its customers.
The industry figure said the step for the organisation, which manufactures security solutions, is an import one because: "After all, IT is the backbone of a true multinational corporation."
Replacing the ERP system will be part of a broader scheme to implement infrastructure across the business and to streamline processes, he explained.
Mr Chhabra added the ERP installation will help ensure the relevant stakeholders gain an improved customer experience and better control over reporting.
In a recent article for MIT Sloan Management Review, Albert Segars and Dave Chatterjee advised businesses an ERP implementation can be a long process but reassured them it has the potential to offer great payback.
