Enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems can be implemented by companies to streamline their human resources (HR) departments and make their operations run more smoothly, it has been suggested.
Writing for Talent Management, Ted Simpson claimed the software can be especially appealing for education institutes.
The specialist noted a school’s HR team would be able to cut down time spent on payroll matters and increase the number of employees served.
Mr Simpson used the example of the Maryland Institute College of Art, which rolled out an ERP system in 2006, to highlight the benefits brought by the technology.
Time spent on fielding small information update requests, including phone number or address changes, has been reduced and staff are now able to update their own data online - saving the business money on postage and paper.
Martin Courtney recently observed in an article for Computing.co.uk that ERP systems can provide sufficient capabilities for supply chain management requirements.
