ERP systems ‘can replace clumsy software’

A company wishing to update its IT operations may wish to turn their attentions to an enterprise resource planning (ERP) system.

In a blog for The Signal, a contributor named as jhon01 noted ERP systems - which include the small and medium-sized enterprise-specific SAP Business One - can be implemented to gain direct and tangible advantages.

The expert observed: "ERP systems are typically used to replace a disparate set of individual systems strung together in a complex and clumsy manner."

He explained the technology makes it a simpler process to integrate machines across multiple locations and enables every employee within an organisation to see "the bigger picture" for what he or she is contributing for.

Inter-departmental information becomes accessible to different factions of a business, enabling increased clarity, the specialist added.

In a recent article for ITNews, Brett Winterford argued ERP systems can provide greater accounting visibility by enabling a firm's management to gain a top-down view of the corporation's finances.
