ERP systems ‘essential for midmarket companies’

Enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems - such as SAP Business One - are essential for midmarket firms, one expert has claimed.

Senior editor of Internet Evolution Michael Singer, in an article for the site, said these kinds of platforms are important even for firms that have no immediate growth plans.

"[ERP] tools are necessary, whether you’re just looking for basic features such as accounting, customer relationship management, finance and HR, or need a full suite of add-on modules for your company," he remarked.

Mr Singer went on to offer tips for ensuring that an ERP implementation goes to plan, with stringent management policies ranking highly as a vital factor.

Try to ensure IT executives keep processes as "clean" as possible, he explained, as this will maximise the performance of an ERP system.

Earlier this year, Tim Herbert of CompTIA stated that between 70 and 80 per cent of small and medium-sized enterprises consider ERP systems as vital to their operations.
