ERP systems “knight in shining armour” for businesses

25th November

Companies looking to invest in ERP systems could benefit from SAP Business One, a streamlining solution specifically designed for small and medium-sized enterprises.

Enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems have helped to integrate a range of different packages since their introduction, it has been suggested.

Writing for the Register, Dale Vile noted that in the pre-ERP era heavily modified applications were common, with a number of organisations running "a tangled mess" of multiple softwares.

He stated: "It was at this point that the concept of ERP came charging in like a knight in shining armour."

According to Mr Vile, the emergence of these platforms "moved the game forward" and "solved some immediate problems" for a lot of firms.

The idea of having a single database with a central model supporting everything is what attracted many businesses to ERP software, he added, with the benefits of simplifying supply chain and accounts payable functions also being appealing.

Jason Ankers, SAP Business One Sales Manager at SAP Gold Partner Codestone, commented: "Many of our customers in the SME space have experienced Dale Viles's observations; the vast majority who have now relinquished the burden of costly multiple disparate systems are now realising the cost and time saving benefits of using a fully integrated platform."
