ERP systems ‘re-designed the way we work’

The implementation of an enterprise resource planning (ERP) system has helped one company improve its working methods.

This is the view of Myron Hrycyk - chief information officer at Severn Trent Water - who said that the technology has "re-designed" the way the firm operates, Computer Weekly reports.

Mr Hrycyk has spent the last two years installing SAP in an effort to help the business become more efficient and to offer its customers better services.

He explained that the organisation previously used many different packages and bespoke solutions.

Now, however, he states: "Implementing SAP allows us to decommission over 100 separate systems … this has the direct effect of reducing IT costs and increasing service reliability."

Jason Ankers, SAP Business One Sales Manager at SAP Gold Partner Codestone, commented: "Many of our customers in the SME space have realised similar benefits to Severn Trent Water all be it on a smaller scale; the vast majority who have now relinquished the burden of costly multiple disparate systems are now realising the cost and time saving benefits of using a fully integrated platform."
