Businesses that fail to regularly assess the performance of their enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems may limit the success of their implementations.
According to eresourceerp.com, while there is no "hard and fast rule" as to what method of evaluation is the most appropriate, the frequency of monitoring is vital.
"It is usually recommended to execute [a review] midway through the ERP implementation," the portal suggested. "The next appraisal shall take place when the process is nearing completion."
After deployment, firms should take stock of their ERP system’s efficiency after three, six and 12 months, it added.
When carrying out checks, fundamental factors to take into consideration are the volume of business being generated, as well as the company’s ability to adapt to changing requirements, the information source explained.
Last year, a survey by the National Computing Centre revealed that less than 33 per cent of enterprises are keeping tabs on the return-on-investment indicators of their new software.
