ERP systems ‘simplify back-office processes’

Firms that install enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems can gain an advantage over their competitors by simplifying back-office functions.

This is the opinion of Steve Gregory, information technology director for broadcast and mobile telecommunications specialist Arqiva, who stated that his company streamlined its processes significantly through purchasing software of this kind.

The organisation required "complete migration" of its back-end procedures following its merger with the former National Grid Wireless operation, he remarked.

"Without this migration, we would have found it increasingly difficult to run our business effectively," Mr Gregory stated.

He added: "We now have a future-proof platform for our ERP applications."

According to the industry expert, this boosted the enterprise’s ability to perform day-to-day activities and created a strong foundation for future growth.

It follows comments made by James Burdiss of industrial product manufacturer Affinia Group, who noted in a CIO article that ERP systems allow corporations to increase their decision-making abilities.
