Small firms looking to integrate a new enterprise resource planning (ERP) system into their workplace may be interested to learn that one expert believes they are suitable for a range of niche industries.
Andrew Robinson, managing director of PA Consulting Group, was quoted in a white paper on the subject as saying that many vendors can offer small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) a range of ERP options.
He remarked: "Many of the midmarket packages have a focus within a sector, for example process manufacturing, or an industry, such as medical devices."
According to the white paper, SMEs that introduce ERP technology can benefit from increased productivity in many areas, including human resources, budgeting and document management.
While this kind of expansion may seem daunting for small businesses, it explained, the move should be seen as a major boost to a company’s internal efficiency.
Last month, Randy Johnston of K2 Enterprises advised organisations that SAP Business One is perfect for SMEs looking to grow as it is offers functions for both novice and advanced users.
