Companies looking to invest in ERP systems could benefit from SAP Business One, a streamlining business solution specifically designed for small and medium-sized enterprises.
As enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems become more common, innovative developments in the sector will increasingly focus on data control, it has been claimed.
Writing for ComputerWorld, Thomas Whailgum noted that the businesses of today are "deluged with terabytes" of information, including the proliferation of new "unstructured" flows from social media and mobile sources.
Noting figures from Gartner, Mr Whailgum pointed out that enterprise data will increase by 650 per cent over the next five years and industry giants in ERP are looking to upgrade accordingly.
Philip Say, an SAP vice-president, was quoted as saying that controlling the expanding masses of information that organisations have to deal with is "one of the more vibrant areas SAP is investing in".
"This is ushering in a new definition of what we mean by ERP," Mr Say added.
India Express recently reported that textile manufacturer Grasim Industries was able to streamline data from a range of business modules at the company by integrating a single scalable SAP platform.
