The uptake of outsourced IT in public sector bodies in Europe has been slightly greater than in other regions around the world.
Asia-Pacific and North America are lagging behind slightly when it comes to introducing more managed IT services in their companies, a recent poll by Ovum revealed.
When looking two years ahead, the independent technology analyst found that more European public sector bodies will be more likely to make the move to managed services.
Jessica Hawkins, Ovum analyst, said: "Changing the dynamics of service delivery is an emotive issue for public sector bodies and can cause them to fear that they are losing control of their key business operations."
However, the benefits of outsourced IT are well known, especially the potential cost savings which can be made by companies which move to IT support services.
Service Birmingham, which is responsible for controlling the budget of the city's council, recently announced it would be using IT support services to reduce the council's outgoings in the long term.
