Mobile network operator Everything Everywhere is to benefit from a major new outsourced IT partnership covering the next seven years.
The company, which controls the Orange and T-Mobile brands in the UK, has shaken hands with T-Systems on a £700 million deal that will see it migrate 40 per cent of its IT estate to the external provider within the next three years.
Covering the delivery of desktop services, data centre operations, infrastructure management, IT applications and ITIL support processes, the arrangement will help to support the operations of around 16,000 members of staff.
It will also see around 220 members of Everything Everywhere's workforce move over to T-Systems, while no job losses will occur as a result of the managed services deal.
Last week, IDC analyst Benjamin Woo told Computerworld UK that outsourced IT is becoming an increasingly prominent business trend, with small and medium-sized enterprises more likely to gravitate towards managed services.
