A technology expert has spoken out about the benefits of using accounting software, which include several ways to drive down costs as a result of its presence.

Terry Forsey, a software sales and marketing coach, said the adoption of such a product will make several expenses redundant.

For example, companies that use accounting software will require the services of an external accountant far less, while there will be fewer occasions on which a professional bookkeeper must be paid.

But the advantages do not end there, with Mr Forsey noting: "If you're dealing with a company who pays your invoices on 30 days from date of receipt, you can email them, which means you can get your invoices out an awful lot quicker."

He advised that outgoings will be slashed as a direct consequence of investing in accounting software.

Randolph Johnston, executive vice-president of K2e.com, recently warned that the technology is not always easy to use, so staff must be trained properly.
