Firms ‘must choose ERP software that is of the right scale’

Category: ERP Software

There is no point in implementing an enterprise resource planning (ERP) software system that is designed for a business of a different size.

CIO Australia has reported that this is a mistake many companies down under appear to have made approximately a decade ago.

It noted that various management solutions have, over time, been attractive to organisations that are looking to make themselves leaner.

This led to a widespread uptake of ERP software in Australia around the turn of the century.

"Many [organisations] putting in ERP have put in big-company solutions and many professionals are saddled with ERP systems that are Rolls-Royce solutions to fairly small distribution problems," Jonathan Dutton, chief executive officer of the Chartered Institute for Purchasing & Supply Australasia, told the news source.

Companies looking for ERP software might wish to consider SAP Business One, after the manufacturer was named as a sustainable enterprise in the 2011 Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes.
