Many firms in London are failing to put business continuity plans in place ahead of this summer's Olympic Games, a new study has found.
According to research by Deloitte, very few companies have devised a strategy to ensure their operations are not disrupted by the flagship sporting event.
Businesses that are trying to minimise the impact of the Games are considering several different approaches, such as flexible working, temporarily relocating to a different site and amending their staff holiday procedures.
Rick Cudworth, Deloitte's lead partner for Games readiness, acknowledged that the lack of action on the issue is a concern, as existing business continuity policies may be insufficient.
"With the Olympic Games, there is the potential for several continuity challenges to impact at the same time and for a prolonged period," he commented.
The event commences on July 27th and runs until August 12th. It will be followed by the Paralympic Games, which starts on August 29th and concludes on September 9th.
