Organisations that implement outsourced IT services should ensure they constantly assess the performance of their partner in order to yield maximum benefits.
Business expert Mike Alley, a contributor to eWeek's Knowledge Center, stated that the relationship between a company and its managed services provider requires attention and clear communication to function optimally.
He stated that managers and their internal teams should therefore regularly assess whether outsourced IT providers are giving them a service that meets their needs and expectations, based on their service-level agreements.
Mr Alley added that if business owners feel a change needs to be made, they should make sure they meet with their provider to discuss the issue rather than ignoring it.
"Communication is key to a solid, long-term outsourcing relationship," the expert added.
Earlier this month, Dmitry Loschinin of business software firm Luxoft told Bloomberg Businessweek that managed services relationships require proper planning and a clearly-defined set of objectives.
