‘Flexibility needed’ for rapid ERP system deployment

Ensuring the swift deployment of an enterprise resource planning (ERP) system - such as SAP Business One - can be reliant on a firm’s flexibility, experts have claimed.

Colin Beaney and Poorna Bandara, writing for Wijeya Newspapers, noted that a dynamic or rapid incorporation of these platforms is often facilitated by companies who are willing to change.

They noted: "The biggest challenge in implementing ERP technology is convincing customers to give up their age-old practices and adopt global best practices."

According to the pair, it is also fundamentally important that businesses have a core team within their own organisation who can support the integration process.

Corporations should also prepare cleansed data, formulate their business goals and develop a mature IT eco-system, the specialists explained.

Similar sentiments were recently shared by George Wing of Tatum, who stated in an article for Baseline that the success of an ERP implementation can hinge on whether a comprehensive strategy has been put in place beforehand or not.
