Offering flexible working practices can be a great way to incentivise staff, it has been suggested.

According to news.com.au, workforce mobility - which can be achieved through software such as Citrix Access Gateway - is a technique of encouraging employees without overstretching a firm's budget.

The website advised enterprises: "Think about setting up a system through which staff are able to apply for flexible working conditions if they reach their targets."

It recommended this may include allowing team members to work from home one day a week or enjoy less stringent hours - such as different start and finish times.

Despite the initial outlay in making remote access working a possibility, the expense will be worthwhile when the workforce becomes productive and engaged as a result of the transition, the portal added.

Public policy advisor at the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development Mike Emmott recently stated flexible working practices can be especially appealing for older employees who wish to remain in a job after they reach retirement age.
