Flexible working ‘essential for Britain’s labour market’

A new report has stressed flexible working is an essential approach to sustain businesses and jobs during the economic recovery.

CBI has called for companies to encourage remote access employment in its Making Britain the Place to Work paper.

The analysis cited mobile workforces across the nation are required to maintain Britain’s labour market as it emerges from recession.

It claimed flexible working, which can be put into place with software such as Citrix XenApp, played a major role in minimising job losses during the height of the economic turbulence.

Employers are now keen to support the right to request remote working structures after having witnessed the benefits it can bring, the report highlighted.

John Cridland, deputy director-general at CBI, commented: "We need to do everything we can to create a jobs market that works for Britain."

IntaPeople company director Stephen Riley recently suggested firms can cut down on the amount of staff absenteeism during the World Cup by putting into place flexible working practices.
