James Caan, the businessman and entrepreneur famous for starring in hit BBC show Dragons' Den, has spoken of the pleasant surprise he received when his team offered him the chance to invest in cloud computing.

Speaking at the Ahead in the Clouds event in London, he is quoted by Cloud Pro as stating that he was won over by the technology earlier this year.

As his business undertook an office move, his IT team asked him whether he thought the firm should switch to the cloud.

"My first thought was 'what was the cost?' When I was told that it was £1,500 a month, I thought that a zero had been left off the figure," Caan explained.

Among the benefits of deploying cloud computing are increased efficiency and financial savings.

Cloud Pro this week reported that the Cloud Industry Forum has found small businesses and public sector bodies are currently driving cloud computing growth.
