Outsourced IT could be on the agenda for many firms this year, according to a new study by Gartner.
The industry analyst firm noted that growth in the IT services market is likely as the global economic downturn begins to ease.
Figures from the organisation revealed 85 per cent of companies across the US, Europe and Asia expect their spending with external services providers (ESPs) to rise once the recession is over.
Commenting on the results, vice-president of Gartner Allie Young stated that while many businesses were hit hard during 2008 and 2009, there are positive indicators for the future.
She remarked: "The good news for service providers going forward is that the majority of buyers of IT and business process services will increasingly turn to ESPs to support the execution of their IT strategies."
Last month, Dawie Bloomberg from the Webcom Group noted in an article for Mybroadband.co.za that outsourced IT is particularly useful for small and medium-sized enterprises that are looking to cut costs.
