Govt’s proposed flexible working changes ‘could cause confusion’

The changes proposed by the government with regards to flexible working may cause some people confusion, it has been suggested.

According to David Frost, director-general of the British Chambers of Commerce, the amendments to the right to request home working practices may not make much difference.

"Current regulations [would be replaced] with a code of practice, but we question whether this will make any real difference.

"In fact, it could just cause more confusion," he added.

The government is debating whether to extend the right to request flexible working regulations at the moment.

It is consulting as to whether it should replace the current procedure for requesting home working, possibly with the use of remote access software, with a "principles-based approach".

Joshua Zuchter, a business and life coach in Toronto, recently told investmentexecutive.com that in order for employees to reap the benefits of home working, they need to obtain the "right environment".
