Motivated and knowledgeable staff are the key to operating a business that maintains a successful focus on green IT – perhaps as a result of deploying Microsoft Hyper-v solutions.
Amy Wilson, head of business at Global Action Plan, talking to a BusinessGreen webinar, said it is important to promote the significance of the environment.
She noted that this is particularly true in business, where bosses must engage their employees in the topic if they are to create a sustainable feel to operations.
Ms Wilson said the majority of low-level workers are those who will have to live with the processes of green computing on a daily basis, so they must be involved.
"Utilise motivated staff – find your environmental change agents, your green champions, those who are already enthusiastic and motivated about the environment and use that enthusiasm to engage others," she stated.
Ian Osborne, project director at Intellect, recently said that virtualisation is a green option as it allows a firm to focus its workload on a smaller number of servers.
