Green IT ‘can help firms save money’

Targeting IT equipment is an effective way for firms to reduce their outgoings and improve their environmental standing, an expert has claimed.

Robert Hokin, chief executive of ecoConnect CIC, explained there has been a significant rise in the number of companies looking to go green in recent times.

The good news for many is that there are plenty of ways in which they can achieve this – with IT providing one particularly appealing option.

"Check whether you are using your premises to its full potential. IT equipment consumes a lot of electricity [so] put computers in their most efficient setting," Mr Hokin stated.

Andrew Boddington, director of marketing at IT recycling and retirement company returnonit.co.uk, recently issued similar words, noting an eco-friendly drive can help companies save money and boost their green reputation.

Mr Hokin added that reducing energy consumption is one of the greatest opportunities companies have to lower their expenditure.
