Green IT ‘makes sense’

Businesses have been advised that green IT and other eco-friendly practices make perfect sense.

Mrs Green – the founder of Littlegreenblog.com, using a pseudonym – said there are "many reasons" companies should focus on becoming better for the environment.

She noted that it is essential for the world's natural resources to be saved and this can start at work.

"As a business decision, it makes sense to be greener - it's better for your bottom line, due to the savings you can make," Ms Green stated.

She went on to suggest that many consumers will now actively seek out eco-friendly companies – such as those that use green IT – so it will pay to fall into this bracket.

There are even small things organisations can do to cut down on their carbon footprint, such as installing energy-efficient lighting.

Andrew Boddington, director of marketing at Return on IT, recently urged firms to consider whether they are running as efficiently as they possibly could be.
