Growth in ERP systems predicted

5th January

Category: ERP softwareEnterprise resource planning (ERP) systems are likely to become more important to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) over the coming years, it has been observed.

A report by Research and Markets indicated that ERP software has evolved significantly in recent times, no longer being used in accountancy alone.

Instead, it is now touching on a wide range of functions within firms and this is expected to continue.

Roger Burkhardt of Ingres recently noted in an article for TechWeb that organisations gained confidence to adopt ERP systems in 2009 because they grew more comfortable with open source technology.

And Research and Markets has predicted that ERP spending by SMEs in the US is likely to be $1 billion (£624 million) higher in 2013 than it was in 2008.

Overall, such companies are expected to have a total budget of $30 billion for application software and services in three years' time.ADNFCR-2732-ID-19539594-ADNFCR
