Businesses around the UK have been advised that investing in home working infrastructure and other flexible benefits will pay off for them handsomely.
Shirley Borrett, development director at the Telework Association, said the feature has been misunderstood over the years, with some people under the illusion it is a burden on companies.
This is certainly not the case, with the expert suggesting there is plenty of evidence that supports the idea mobile and home working will help firms "gain enormously".
"More people are thinking about the benefits to business, society and the environment. Norman Baker, the transport minister, has been talking quite openly about flexible and home-based working and the advantages to travel," Ms Borrett explained.
She went on to note the Olympic Games in London next year are likely to trigger a rise in flexible working techniques.
James Kendrick, writing for ZDNet, recently advised workers at home to set out a place in their abode that is dedicated to professional life.
