Home working ‘boosts employees’ quality of life’

Employers are increasingly offering their staff the option of home working, it has been suggested.

As well as more companies offering remote working options to their employees, more workers are in turn requesting the practice, according to Matt Duffy, partnerships manager at consultants Lorica.

Mr Duffy said there is "a lot more focus now" on home working and the benefits it affords.

"This is particularly around childcare and allowing people to trade holiday – to purchase additional leave entitlement from their employer – to help with that work-life balance," he explained.

Recent research conducted by iVillage revealed that female staff members are the most likely to reap the rewards of companies implementing remote access systems.

The research showed that 86 per cent of working mums believe home working boosts flexibility within their lives.

More than two-thirds of those surveyed for the poll said they use technology, such as remote access software, to make flexible working easier for them.
