Home working ‘can help to attract young employees’

Companies looking to add talented young staff to their team should consider offering them the option of home working, if one expert is accurate.

Kevin Green, chief executive of the Recruitment and Employment Confederation, explained his belief that flexible working is one of the key factors for those at the start of their careers looking to join a firm.

This could mean both completing their daily duties from home or while on the go, without the need to be at the office each day.

"Employers are going to have to think about how they engage people, how they employ them, the different types of contractual relationships they put in place and how they retain that talent going forward," Mr Green noted.

He admitted this could create a headache for hirers, but it is one that is arguably worth overcoming by getting things right.

A survey by Office Team recently found that 68 per cent of employers are offering flexible working in the hope of improving their reputation as a place of work.
