Businesses seeking to ensure that their members of staff are not suffering from too much pressure could implement home working measures.
This is according to the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB), which states that employees tend to be happier working in smaller firms due to the flexible working practices they offer.
In conjunction with the charity Mind, the FSB has recommended that bosses can support their staff's mental wellbeing by asking them see if they need any adjustments to their working environment.
These could include enabling remote access working, as well as helping the employee to plan their workload themselves.
John Walker, national chairman of the FSB, said such measures can "increase productivity and performance of their employees while saving the business money".
More companies and workers are beginning to realise that there are numerous benefits to flexible working, which is often resulting in a lower turnover of staff, according to Shirley Borrett, development director at the Telework Association.
