Giving fathers the option of home working, perhaps with the use of remote access software, could lower their stress levels and boost their commitment to their employer.
This is according to a recent study by Working for fathers, carried out by Working Families and the Lancaster University Management School.
Researchers revealed dads offered flexible working had higher levels of wellbeing and were less troubled by getting the right work-life balance.
Home working fathers who do the majority of the housework said they were much happier with their work-life balance, the research showed.
Further to this, the study also revealed that dads on a low income are less stressed if they are able to work flexibly.
"Our results show that flexible working makes a positive difference to the lives of working fathers, which benefits both fathers and employers," said Dr Caroline, lead researcher from Lancaster University.
Recent research from the Trades Union Congress revealed that the uptake of home working was affected by the economic downturn, with growth stalling during the recession.
