Companies should consider offering home working as an option for their staff during the London Olympic Games, it has been suggested.
Transport secretary Philip Hammond, writing for the London Evening Standard, said transport disruption in the capital could be avoided, or at least reduced, if businesses allowed their staff to work from home during the Games.
"When the Games are in town we are all going to have to do our bit and change our travel plans for at least some of the main days," he said.
That could mean the "government working with businesses to allow employees to work from home on some days, or come in at more flexible times".
Recently, Alistair McKinnon, senior product manager of internet protocol at Virgin Media Business, suggested that home working, perhaps with the use of remote access software, could aid firms if they have to deal with "unforeseen events" which have the potential to arise.
