Home working employees should ensure they continue to think about data protection when they are out of the office.
Steve Holford, marketing director at Fasthosts Internet, said that some employees take risks with "work-related data and documents", which can put businesses at risk.
To counter this risk, people working from home, perhaps with the use of remote access software, need data protection to be at the front of their minds.
Mr Holford said most workers are given responsibility for making their own arrangements for the storage of data off-site.
Giving home working employees remote server access could reduce the risk to data significantly.
Peter Thomson, director of research at the Telework Association, explained recently that one of the biggest benefits of home working is that staff feel less stressed and tense, making them more productive employees.
This is due to the fact they do not have to commute into the office on a daily basis.
