Home working is growing in popularity at a staggeringly fast pace, new research suggests.
According to a study by Virgin Media, 357 per cent more businesses are trying to implement flexible working options, which could require the use of remote access software, into their workplaces.
Some 64 per cent of the 5,000 companies polled for the research said they are now equipping their employees for home working.
Only 14 per cent of the firms polled by Virgin Media in 2010 said the same thing.
"It's easy to see why businesses across the UK are embracing mobile working," said Andrew McGrath, executive director of commercial at the company.
He explained that companies benefit from having happier employees, as well as complying with flexible working legislation.
A recent survey by SAP revealed that companies believe having a more mobile workforce will make their staff work harder, therefore increasing their productivity.
