More people in the UK appear to be getting to grips with the benefits of home working, which can provide a flexible and comfortable option for employees.

It was recently reported by the Evening Standard that tens of thousands of bankers in London will be asked to work from home during next year's Olympic Games.

Bosses believe that keeping workers away from the capital will ease the pressure on the transport network, helping the sporting event to go without a problem.

Now, the Guardian has launched its own guide to home working, providing readers with five top tips.

Firstly, it recommended setting up a dedicated workstation so that it is easier to focus on the task at hand – and this should always be somewhere light.

While an employer should invest in home working technology, it is important for staff to do what they can by ensuring they have the right equipment at their disposal.

The newspaper's final advice is to limit the potential for distractions and to stick to a set routine.
